In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.

Pater Noster (Vater unser)
PATER NOSTER, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Ave Maria (Gegrüsset seist du, Maria)
AVE MARIA, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Gloria Patri (Ehre sei dem Vater)
GLORIA PATRI, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Symbolum Apostolorum (Das Apostolische Glaubensbekenntnis)
Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, sanctorum communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam aeternam. Amen.

Confiteor (Das Schuldbekenntnis)
Confiteor Deo omnipotenti, beatae Mariae semper Virgini, beato Michaeli Archangelo, beato Ioanni Baptistae, sanctis Apostolis Petro et Paulo, et omnibus Sanctis, quia peccavi nimis cogitatione, verbo et opere: mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Ideo precor beatam Mariam semper Virginem, beatum Michaelem Archangelum, beatum Ioannem Baptistam, sanctos Apostolos Petrum et Paulum, et omnes Sanctos, orare pro me ad Dominum Deum nostrum. Amen.

Hi Hildibod, why is it you pray in Latin? Most people don’t understand it, and it shouldn’t be too hard to produce german or english versions of the same prayers or creeds.

    Yours Jakob

      Hi Jakob
You are right. As a matter of fact it is very easy to find the corresponding English or German versions of the respective prayers. However, Latin is the officially preferred language of the Catholic Church. Pope John XXIII wrote: „the Latin language ‚can be called truly catholic.‘ It has been consecrated through constant use by the Apostolic See…and must be esteemed ‚a treasure…of incomparable worth.‘ It is…a most effective bond, binding the Church of today with that of the past and of the future in wonderful continuity.“ It is the unifying liturgical language and thus, you can go wherever you want and you will find Latin prayers and chants.
